Indian Boundary Park

2500 West Lunt Avenue, Chicago, IL

This 13-acre urban park is nestled into the West Ridge neighborhood in North Chicago.

Indian Boundary Park features a Nature Play Center, perfect for educational summer fun for the kids.

There’s a summer spray pool, a gorgeous lagoon filled with ducks and wildlife, four tennis courts, and lots of space for picnics and outdoor lounging.

IBP also offers a number of year-round classes in the gorgeous Tudor-style mansion on the grounds. From painting and piano to dancing and voice lessons, you can enroll your child (or yourself!) in any of their summer offerings.

Many of the lessons are held on the Tudor’s sprawling back porch, with the park’s beautiful natural environment serving as backdrop.

The Richard H. Driehaus Museum

40 E. Erie Street, Chicago, IL

Adult Admission: $20.00

Senior Admission: $12.50

Child Admission (6-12 Years Old): $10.00

If you’re a history or architecture buff, this historic 19th-century mansion near the Magnificent Mile is your summer oasis.

Built in the late-19th century for Chicago banker Samuel M. Nickerson, the Driehaus Museum was bought and restored in 2003 by Richard H. Driehaus.

Today the Museum stands as a testament to American style and décor during the Gilded Age.

With Art Nouveau exhibitions, décor and architecture, as well as furnishings and art from Louis Comfort Tiffany, your visit to the Driehaus Museum will be like taking a step back in time.

The Morton Arboretum

4100 Illinois Route 53, Lisle, IL

Just 25 miles outside of Chicago sits this 1,700 expanse of gardens and exotic plant life.

The Arboretum features over 4,100 different species of trees, woody plants and shrubs, plus a restored Illinois prairie and native woodlands.

In addition the woodlands and gardens, you can take the kids to the specialized “Children’s Garden,” spend some time in the Fragrance Garden or the fascinating Maze Garden.

There are 16 miles of hiking trails and 9 miles of paved roads for a flat walk.

You can also take a guided tour on the Arboretum’s open-air tram.
