Build Your Chicago Brewery Tour Today
Warm up at These Local Favorites This Winter
Wintertime in Chicago gets old after a while, especially once the holidays have come and gone. It’s bitterly cold, snowy, and pretty much all of your time is spent indoors. The stir craziness can get to you.
Fortunately, in a city like Chicago, there’s plenty to do and see during the wintertime. OML Worldwide is particularly fond of the city’s great breweries, perfect for a winter weekend tour. Check out five of our personal favorites and plan your Chicago brewery tour today.
3340 N. Kedzie Ave., Chicago, IL
Revolution Brewing, one of Illinois’ largest breweries, is a must-see during your winter brewery tour. Head to their Kedzie Avenue production facility to take a tour of the 60-barrel brewhouse, sample some of the beers you saw in production, and talk to one of their tour guides about the variety of beers. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon on a cold winter day.
Half Acre Beer Company
4257 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago, IL
Head to Chicago’s North Center for a look at – and a taste of – Half Acre’s operation. Their Lincoln brewery is Half Acre’s original location, complete with a retail shop, a tap room, a full kitchen, and, of course, the brewhouse. Visit the tap room to sample any of their outstanding beers, or visit on a Saturday and take a guided tour for $10. Admission gets you a tour of the brewery, three samples, and a branded pint glass.
Half Acre’s Balmoral brewery was built in 2015, and they plan to expand even further by building a restaurant and hosting tours in the future.
1800 W. Fulton St., Chicago, IL
One of the best-known craft breweries in the country, Goose Island offers a great experience for visitors to their brewery and taproom. Brewery tours include a visit to the Innovation Room, where brewers experiment with small-batch beers, and the Barrel Aging Warehouse, where guests can learn about Goose Island’s barrel-aged beers like the Bourbon County Stout.
Visitors also get to relax in the facility’s new tasting room and sample a number of Goose Island’s outstanding beers, and go home with a custom-made pint glass to commemorate the day. You’ll forget it’s winter at all.
Solemn Oath Brewery
1661 Quincy Ave. #179, Naperville, IL
Head to Solemn Oath for a cheeky, rustic-chic experience with plenty of craft, artisanal beers to sample and purchase. Their tasting room is the highlight of any visit, with its brewing stations and processes taking place just a few feet away. You can purchase pints, flights, and growlers, plus merchandise in the space. You’ll also enjoy witty banter with their staff, which is worth a visit in itself.
Penrose Brewing Company
509 Stevens St., Geneva, IL
Penrose Brewing Company in Geneva is consistently voted one of the best breweries in Chicagoland. With their delicious craft beers and impressive brewery tours, Penrose is a must-see during your Chicago brewery tour this winter. The Ten Buck Tours give visitors a pint of beer (you get to keep the glass) and an inside look at Penrose’s beer-making process, all led by a professional tour guide.
