2015 is here, and that means a whole new crop of events, festivals and experiences to look forward to, plan for, and enjoy. Chicago is a city of dynamic culture and diverse opportunity; from the artsy to the business-minded, there’s an event on the horizon in 2015 to add excitement to your life and keep you looking forward.
Here’s a short list of 5 great events to consider adding to your calendar in 2015.
January 8-18, 2015
Stage 73, 1225 West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL
Since 2002, The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival has been highlighting local comedy troupes and comics and giving local comedy fans an entire week of events for their calendars. 2015 will mark the festival’s 14th year, and the lineup is packed with immense local and national talent. You can purchase an All Festival pass or simply go on the night or nights of your choosing.
March 11-15, 2015
United Center, 1901 West Madison Street, Chicago, IL
This electric annual sporting event will bring the two best Big Ten Men’s Basketball teams together to battle for the title and moving on in the quest for ultimate glory. The stadium will be lit up and packed with dedicated sports fans cheering their favorite teams to victory. The Stadium has hosted the Big Ten tournament 9 times since 1998, but hasn’t hosted since 2013. The venue offers plenty of food and drink options so a night out at the tournament is really an all-inclusive experience to pencil in to your 2015 calendar.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Saturday, March 14, 2015
Because the Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade always happens on a Saturday, it will be taking place the Saturday before the 17th, but will entail all of the traditional festivities. The dyeing of the Chicago River will take place at 10:00 am on the 14th, and can be seen from the Michigan Avenue Bridge. The parade will start promptly at 12:00 noon. The city of Chicago does not recommend driving to and parking at the event, so booking a car service vehicle would be ideal for getting to the parade and getting home afterwards with minimal fuss.
May 29-30, 2015
Browse the artistic creations of over 100 juried artists, craftsmen, photographers and more. From paintings, sculpture, ceramics, furniture, and other arts and crafts, you can browse, discuss pieces with the artists, enter different contests, and grab a bite from the various food stands. The festival will take place in downtown Chicago, adding an extra element of history and culture to the experience.
July 8-12, 2015
Over 35 popular Chicago restaurants and brilliant chefs will put their creations on showcase at this summer event, which will take place in Grant Park on the lakefront. Admission to the event is free, and you’ll get to enjoy live music from the Bud Light stage throughout the festival. Widely considered one of America’s best food festivals, Taste of Chicago is a summer event you simply can’t miss.
October 15-29, 2015
This two-week festival will give Chicagoans and visitors the opportunity to see the work of tons of directors and actors. With over 100 films and short films, plus panel discussions, meet and greets and more, there is plenty to learn and even more to see at the Chicago International Film Festival.
These are just a few great events to consider attending in the Windy City in 2015; don’t forget to book car service to ensure that your trip to each event is stress-free and enjoyable.
