You hear people talk about being busy, and then you hear the various terms for ultra busy…slammed, buried, crushed, etc. The question is, what differentiates “regular busy” from the others?
Personally, I don’t know that there is a difference. In the limousine industry, we experience peaks and valleys that can be extreme – periods where we are so busy that we don’t have time to think, interspersed with lulls that could put a corpse to sleep. But in my long history with O’Hare-Midway, I can honestly say that I can’t identify a single time that I felt I was transitioning from busy to something…well…busier.
I think some may feel their “fight or flight” response kick in more easily than others, and maybe that’s why it may be less obvious to me. It seems That – for me anyway – once I get busy, my fight or flight is already engaged. There isn’t a higher stress level…just a different stress level. But I can’t speak for everyone. Maybe there is a threshold that humans are supposed to have. Then again, we are all different, so thinking that we should all be the same if fairly narrow minded.
Chicago limo companies are always busy. How you handle that “busy” is the difference between being successful and being mediocre.
No one wants to be mediocre.
