The Museum of Science and Industry is one of the Windy City’s most famous museums and attractions, and during the holidays it transforms into Christmas Around the World, a wonderland that represents holiday traditions of cultures around the globe. This staple of Christmas in Chicago is a holiday event that can’t be missed.
To help you plan your trip, we’re sharing what you can expect from MSI, as well as where to eat and how to get there so that you can turn a simple day trip into a fun, festive outing.
Museum of Science and Industry
5700 S Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60637
Exhibit open through January 8, 2017
Visit this breathtaking exhibit to experience the holiday traditions of cultures from around the world. The museum’s four-story Grand Tree is proudly on display in the Rotunda, surrounded by dozens of smaller trees, each decorated by volunteers of all cultures and backgrounds. Now, you can experience the magic of Christmas in countries all around the world without having to leave Chicagoland.
Museum visitors can also experience the magic of an indoor snowfall. On select days, MSI will offer special activities – photos with Santa and an ornament-making workshop – and special performances from groups around the Chicago area, including Irish dance groups, children’s choirs, and more.
Admission to the Christmas Around the World exhibit is included in the price of museum entry.
Where to Eat
