Feel the Spirit of Giving? Consider These Amazing Chicago Charitable Organizations

As the holidays draw nearer, many of you are planning your gift giving, shopping trips and time with family. Many more of you are inspired to give back and enact a positive influence on someone in need. The spirit of giving, though it exists year-round, is most potent around the holidays, when we can reflect on the fortunes and good times the past year has provided us, and think of ways to help impact other peoples’ lives.

OML Worldwide of Chicago has always believed in philanthropy and helping others, and we are proud of our great city’s many charitable organizations and non-profits that help those in need throughout the year, often without recognition.

We love our city, and we want to shine a light on the great Chicago organizations that work tirelessly to make the world a better place. Here are 4 incredible Chicago charities to consider when writing your holiday donation checks this year.

Chicago Coalition for the Homeless

Under the motto “Fighting for the Human Right to Housing Since 1980,” the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless has made strides to prevent and end homelessness in Chicago. Some of their initiatives include Sweet Home Chicago, which helps provide affordable housing options for those in need, and an initiative to provide renewable college scholarships to graduating seniors in the Chicago area.

The Chicago Coalition for the Homeless is a non-profit, and your donation to their causes is tax deductible.

American Blues Theater

If you are passionate about art, music and the freedom of expression, the American Blues Theater is a great place to donate this holiday season.

The ABT’s ability to provide Chicago residents and visitors with outstanding theatrical productions depends on donations from patrons around the country. ABT is dedicated to not only producing landmark plays and providing a voice for Chicago artists, they also provide community service to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago Public Schools and more.

Considered the oldest Equity Ensemble Theatre is Chicago, American Blues Theater was voted one of the best non-profits in Chicago in 2015, and your donation could help continue to provide artists and innovators with a voice in the coming year.

Red Door Animal Shelter

The Red Door Animal Shelter is a no-kill animal safe haven on Lunt Avenue in Chicago, and its team focuses on the rescue, care and adoption of dogs, cats and rabbits. Red Door depends on donations in order to feed, house and care for its animal population, and is one of only five organizations of its kind in the entire country.

Help provide a range of animals with healthcare, housing and preparation for adoption with a donation to the Red Door this season.

This organization, headquartered in Chicago, is a non-profit that is devoted to providing teenage refugee girls with the kind of mentorship, resources and support that they need to do well in their new lives in the United States.

In addition to educational resources, assistance in developing language skills and guidance on self-confidence, GirlForward provides opportunities for girls to build friendships, thrive in a new culture, and establish a path towards success in their lives. GirlForward was recently featured on CNN Heroes for its amazing impact on refugee girls across the country.

OML Worldwide hopes you look forward to the holiday season and towards the spirit of giving that the holidays bring. Any one of these Chicago non-profits would be a great way to invest your donations this season, as well as a great avenue through which to positively impact people in need.
